This January, a respectable 2nd place at the Shanghai Dota 2 Open proved that Newbee were once again capable of taking on the best, helped in no small part by the return of captain Hao and the poaching of Invictus Gaming support ChuaN.
Team Archon, however, face a tough fight for survival. They have a few top-four tournament placings under their respective belts, though this will be their first real test outside of the infamously unstable NA Dota scene, and in a stacked group to boot.
Fun fact: four out of five CompLexity players played together on the super-successful Heroes of Newerth team stayGreen.
The same goes for Team Liquid, who sailed through the EU qualifiers without losing a single match. The full schedule for groups and the main event is here.
You can watch in the game client for free, via Steam Broadcasting or on the DotaMajor Twitch channel.
Also, as an aesthetic FYI, the trophy is made to look like a Mystic Staff which is an in-game item that grants 25 points of intelligence.
Furthermore, Valve will also sponsor smaller events dubbed Minors. Valve will directly manage the schedule of Majors and Minors to help avoid collisions during the year.
Competing in Major and Minor Championships will award qualifying points to players which will be the sole criteria for invitations to The International Points will be awarded based on the total prize pool of a tournament, with Majors giving more points per prize pool dollar.
The total points per tournament will also partially scale based on the time of year, with tournaments closer to The International awarding additional points.
Finally, Valve will maintain leaderboards of player and team qualifying points for everyone to follow. As of September 15th, there are 11 Majors and 16 Minors planned for the upcoming season.
Qualifying points from every tournament will be awarded proportional to their total prize pool, with Majors receiving a 1. Main Wikis. General Recent changes Pending changes Random page.

This is a complex situation that requires serious and informed consideration, but in the short term all it has done is inspired an ugly racist streak in Twitch chat something that Twitch chat has not traditionally needed help with.
There's not much to be taken away from the problems of the playoffs save 'well maybe let's not do this again'—I feel, vicariously, a bit like I did when I missed my plane home after the Frankfurt Major because I was drunk.
Slow zoom in on an idiot's face. This community has been let down by tournament showrunners before. Valve-as-enemy particularly Gabe Newell-as-enemy is a new angle for most.
With regard to their customers Valve like to position themselves as an Aikido master in a forest of spears: never striking first, always reacting, responding, redirecting.
Their role is to watch, first and foremost, and to only take the most subtle, efficient and direct action. The notion that they're a purely data-driven studio has symbolic as well as practical value, hedging against the uncomfortable consequences of being responsible for quite so many players and developers.
They are protected by the implication that it's not us that has all of this power, it's you. The frank and personal nature of Newell's reddit post dispels that mystique—it's like discovering that your Aikido master has a gun down the back of his pants.
They could go southern and go to like Austin or Atlanta or Miami. Have zero connection to Brazil but I would admit this would be hype. The venue and location with interviews would be very hype.
Valve giving them some actual hands on would boost the popularity to a whole new level. And a very good way of growing our community, who is completly based on LOL.
Everywhere you go have a lol player. I thought the next major would be themed red, to follow the power treads cycle: str red - int blue - agi green.
Also considering the major is in China, in Chinese culture the color red symbolizes fortune and happiness. Yea, but they already showed the logo for the major during stream.
It was the same as Frankfurt major but light blue theme. That home field advantage though Kappa.
Really excited about heading to Shanghai for the Major, there is just an atmosphere you get from a China crowd that can't be replicated anywhere else.
I wait in queue in China for 60 mins at prime time at mmr. The issue was even with Chinese as my secondary language I wasn't getting games.
Typing this command fixed it. It's actually because of the language preferences setting. With steam language changing to Chinese and ingame language changing to English, you will experience all Chinese intext of both the client and ingame description, however English voices of units, and around 2 minutes game searching time!
That's how I did it after having the same amount of searching time as yours. But still had some couple good games and still tried to get my MMR back.
If this is the second major and is being held in March, that doesn't really leave much space for the third major before TI is being held.
It's a little rushed, but I think we still have DAC this year at winter, so it kinda makes sense. Probably issues with getting the venue for the time, but yeah it would have been better to be a bit sooner.
Valve, hire this man,its too much of a risk for the cute asian drow rangers! About a month or 2 back, a guy's brother said his mmr wasn't suppose to be so low 2k then proceeded to say that he could thrash any 5k player 1v1 mid.
So this guy went to reddit to ask a k mmr player to whoop his bro's ass and everyone was so hype that someone i forgot who was also a commentator for the fight.
Needless to say the 2k scrub got whooped. All Shanghai Major matches can be viewed live in the Dota 2 client, via Steam Broadcasting, or on Twitch. Find the full schedule in your Compendium or here. After the anger and drama of the Shanghai Major's opening days—and in spite of the genuinely excellent Dota that has Spiele+ and continues to happen—the event Live De Email Login consolidated Viainvest as the world's first cringe comedy with a three million dollar prize pool. As baffling and terrible as it has been at times, the show has gone on. This just shouldn't happen.
